Geschiedenis
De Collingwood Football Club werd opgericht in februari 1892. Collingwood speelde zijn eerste wedstrijd in de Victorian Football Association op 7 mei 1892, tegen Carlton. In 1902 won Collingwood zijn eerste premierschap tegen de Essendon Football Club.
De Victorian Football League (VFL) ontstond in 1897. Collingwood was één van de oorspronkelijke teams (samen met Fitzroy, Melbourne, St Kilda, Carlton, Essendon, South Melbourne en Geelong). In de beginjaren van de VFL was Collingwood het meest succesvolle team; het won 11 premierschappen in de eerste 40 jaar. Ze wonnen de meest recente AFL-premierschap tegen St Kilda in 2010. De teams moesten een tweede wedstrijd spelen nadat de scores aan het eind van de eerste Grand Final wedstrijd gelijk waren.
