Winnaars en genomineerden

Van 1952 tot 1967 waren er twee prijzen voor Beste Acteur: één voor een Britse acteur en één voor een buitenlandse acteur. In 1968 werden de twee prijzen voor de Britse en buitenlandse acteur gecombineerd tot één Beste Acteur. De huidige titel, voor Beste acteur in een hoofdrol, wordt sinds 1995 gebruikt.
